New Delhi: The Indian cricket board has recommended one-day international and Twenty20 captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni for the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award.
Under Dhoni's captaincy, India won the tri-series in Australia and also the World Twenty20 Championship in South Africa.
If Dhoni bags the award, he will be the second cricketer after Sachin Tendulkar to get the prestigious award.
Former captain Chandu Borde has also been nominated for the Dhyanchand award and VS Patil for the Dronacharya award.
The President will give away the award, along with Arjuna and Dronacharya awards, at the Rashtrapati Bhavan August 29.
